Songs of the North, popular oral tradition

Forefathers came from the frozen seas.
Eager for conquest. Hungry for glory.
Forefathers conquered the snow and the mountains.
Spilling the blood of brothers and opponents.
Forefathers dominated the North, but it was not enough.
The war also came to the South up to Silver Lake.
Finally the rainbow marked the last conquest,
At the price of Norden, Alveris, Jotunn and Dwarves.
A watery grave where now resides Valhalnir, the principal capital.
The great snake was pleased by our strength,
But asked us peace.
In gift, it carried the hammer and the anvil,
The cascade of ice to seal the deal.

Norden

Songs of the North, popular oral tradition

We are the children of the North, offspring of wind and ice.
We are the hammer of the Kings, weapon of Jarls.
From Vigrond to Niflheimr, from life to death.
Kissed from the cold power of the Great Serpent,
Hardened in iron and steel.
We are the children of war, bearers of conquest.
We are the children of the North, offspring of wind and ice.

Alveris

Icy Testament, Unique Volume

After the Dragon’s death an Elves’ tribe migrated to north, decided to abandon the hypocrisy of their kind. The exodus kept going until the black earth became pure ice. Taking advantage of the arcane stream generated by the Icy Cascade, the Alveris, so they wanted to be called, merged their bodies with the essence of the water itself. The rosy skin changed into a bright blue or into translucent skin like the purest diamond. They lived there, in icy palaces that contained the memory of who they were and what has been done and why. Some of them still live nowadays.

Dwarf RaceDwarf LogoDwarves

Steel Codex, Chapter I

Dwarves are a community committed to labor. Tireless craftsmen, they keep forges up and running most of the year. They live in unpretentious houses and dress soberly. No time to waste in superficial matters. They quarry rocks, forge steel, supply the whole Realm with materials and weapons. Their shortness doesn’t affect their efficiency at all. Dwarves are blacksmiths, miners, warriors and wizards.

Peoples of Britain, Chapter VIII

Thanks to their robust constitution, Dwarves are one of the sturdiest fighters and mages. Even though they are gifted with great strength and acumen, they lack dexterity, this makes them less accustomed to stealth. They are capable of enduring pain and low temperatures. Inflexible like steel, Dwarves are tough enemies. They live mostly in wide tunnels that dig into solid stone, cities and towns underground. Their bond with stones and metals makes them great miners and artisans. Not to underestimate their prowess at brewing high quality beers.

• Strong constitution and vitality
• Experts miners and meticulous blacksmiths
• Favored Class: Huscarl

Ulver

Wind’s Spear, Captain’s Log

The horizon is invaded by dark cobalt sails. The ships reached us at an incredible speed. The grappling hooks flew in the blink of an eye and trapped the mercantile ships. The men that boarded us looked like barbarians with thick beards. Not even among the Nordens I’ve seen such brutality. They slaughtered and killed for the sake of it. Ulver! Ulver! That was their battle cry. And when I thought the worst was over, some of them shapeshifted into beasts, similar to wolves but human. They are looking for the rest of the crew! They are at my door! I can’t… I can’t st…

Jotunn

Icy Testament, Unique Volume

From the forgotten ruins in the deep North came the Jotunns. Outstandinglly high, some thin and balanced, some large and squat they were all swift and deadly. Their bluish skin it’s similar to secular ice, spiky in every form. If willing they can disappear from sight, secret guardians of the eternal ice. Sometimes they roam through Norsengard unnoticed. Formidable warriors and expert iceguards.

Goblin

Domnal O’Nara, personal journal

Those… things came out of nowhere. Green skin, sharp teeth and big and peaky noses. They dressed with fur, cloaks and armor made of leather mixed with bones. They killed my security detail like they were small bugs. My fate was different. I was taken to a village, build with extinct animal bones. Once there they started to negotiate. They bought my diamonds offering me a payment, it seemed fair considered the alternative… There were five of them speaking to me in barely understandable language. The deal wasn’t exactly what I planned to earn from my diamonds, but sure it’s enough, I’ve got my life, some dried meat (not sure of what animal), a bone flute that can’t emit a sound and forty copper coins.
